Chuan Keat Motor Trading Sdn. Bhd. (Brand name: CKT MOTOR) provides customers with a wide variety of moped motorcycles. From the more common brands in Malaysia like Honda, Yamaha, SYM, Benelli and Suzuki to current popular ones like GPX, WMoto, Aveta the company offers motorbike enthusiasts a wide range to choose from. CKT MOTOR also offers various credit services for customers who intend to take up loans for their motorcycle purchase instead of buying in cash.


To maintain favourable relations with customers, CKT MOTOR offers after sales services such as free towing, motorcycle service and maintenance, loan instalment collection, insurance renewal, warranty and insurance claims. CKT MOTOR is continuously striving to provide better quality services and products to customers. CKT MOTOR has a vision of becoming Malaysians’ first choice moped motorbike dealer. In order to achieve this, it is the company’s mission to become a platform which provides the best service for customers and to bring about a harmonious and competitive workplace to improve the living standard of its staff. The company prioritises customers’ needs and try its best to help customers achieve their ideal motorbike.

CKT MOTOR runs its retail business with outlets usually of dimensions with 2 standard ground floor shop lots. Its retail stores are designed with a layout consisting of a motorcycle display area, service repair area, sales counter and cashier counter. Every outlet will have a manager, salesmen, foreman and a general clerk on duty. The outlets operate daily from 10am to 7pm except for certain public holidays. The main tasks include aiding customers with application of loan facilities to purchase motorcycles of their choice. Loan application is more complicated compared to cash term purchases. Hence, customers will need more assistance and advice when buying on credit terms.

Some supporting work will be forwarded to the central office in Penang while the outlets focus mainly on servicing customers. CKT MOTOR gives its best to provide customers with related services. Thus, the foreman in the outlets will help customers solve problems with their motorcycle defects and make claims where possible. The general clerk deals mainly in book keeping, filing records, document renewal process, some miscellaneous clerical work and advising customers on some basic information.

Every achievement starts with an impromptu idea combine with great ambition. It has been a remarkable journey since Chuan Keat Motor Trading Sdn. Bhd. commenced business. Looking back, the company’s founder started his motorbike dealer business, previously named Chin Chuan Motor, in 2014 with the first shop lot located in Kepala Batas, Penang. This business venture was inspired by the founder’s experience in working in his father’s motorcycle trade business for many years since he was in his teen age years. Realising that customers needed to pay a considerably big sum of deposit before they were able to own a motorcycle, he was determined to find a way to help customers acquire motorbikes with a more affordable down payment price. After years of exploring resources, he finally launched the innovative motorbike sales package: RM 1 to own a motorbike. The package was a remarkable success, enabling the business to achieve sales value of RM 2.4 million in only one month.

At the start, there were only 4 people working in the shop — the founder, one foreman, one salesperson and a clerk. But they were able to achieve exceptional sales value due to their full commitment and high spirit. Motivated by this positive feedback from the market, the founder rode on the momentum and set up another outlet in Padang Serai, Kedah just three months after the first store was established. The new store achieved even better performance and this made the founder see the immense opportunity for the innovative “affordable for all” sales package.

To further expand the business, the founder had to attain ways to manage manpower and develop talents so that the existing shop can run efficiently. Advancement is never easy and there will always be challenges ahead. Seeking funds and support from business partners, the company managed to overcome obstacles and launched another outlet in Kulim, Kedah within a year. After three outlets, the company faced difficult times as its competitors started to offer similar packages and the market became more competitive. As a result, sales started to stagnate and even deteriorate. In 2016, the company started testing the online market on social media to improve sales. The company also considered the possibility of joint venture or partnership with other sub-dealers to increase its market share. The company ventured into the online market at the right time and managed to recover some sales. Within three years, the company expanded a few more outlets including another store in Kulim Kedah, Sungai Petani Kedah, Simpang Ampat Penang and Parit Buntar Perak. A few of the stores were initiated through joint ventures.

After reaching a certain level in its business, the company realized the need to provide additional services to maintain its customer base as customer trends have changed and new customers’ preference differ from the older generation. It is a challenge to maintain long-term relations with customers and the Internet era made it easier for customers to have alternative selections. Hence, the company had to enhance its after sales services to cater to the needs of customers in the ever competitive industry.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the introduction of the Movement Control Order was the biggest challenge. However, the company’s early experience with the online market managed to save the company as it managed to recover some sales from online social media platforms such as Facebook. Tapping on opportunities of increased sales as a result of tax holidays, moratorium and various financial aids under the Government’s post MCO initiatives, CKT MOTOR continued to expand to Bukti Mertajam Penang, Taiping Perak and Alor Setar Kedah in 2020. Riding on the promising sales performance, the company expanded into Ipoh Perak, Gerik Perak, Kangar Perlis, Kuala Kangsar Perak and Tikam Batu Kedah in 2 years. CKT MOTOR intends to reach more moped motorbike owners with a wide coverage of outlets. CKT MOTOR will continue to improve its business operations in order to achieve its Vision and Mission.
Post COVID-19, CKT MOTOR implemented some changes to the company. The management noted the importance of digitalization and branding in the social media. Therefore focus was directed towards online marketing, online sales and introduction of technology in its operations. CKT MOTOR also collaborated with event organizers and government agencies to participate in charity events for the needy. From the management level to executive employees, the company encouraged everyone to fulfil their social responsibility.

To date, CKT MOTOR has successfully opened 20 outlets throughout Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang and Perak states in the course of 8 years and acquired the business trademark: CKT MOTOR. In appreciation of its staff who have worked tirelessly for the success of the business, CKT MOTOR has also launched a generous salary and income scheme and developments training opportunities. CKT MOTOR was recently granted a franchise license.

CKT MOTOR is proud to announce that it customer base has reached a handsome 48,000 (and growing) with a team of 150 members. With the increasing company size, the company is adopting various systems and tools like POS System, Info-Tech to operate more effectively. Moving forward, CKT MOTOR is constantly keeping abreast with changes in the market and adjust its operations and business model to stay competitive in the market. The management team is diligently working to introduce more product variety and services to maintain business sustainability.
