Shifting gears: How Alienworld is transforming the automotive tech scene

In a world where cars are getting smarter and customers expect faster, better service, one company is leading the charge towards a more efficient, tech-driven automotive future.

Meet Alienworld Technology Berhad (Alienworld) - an emerging name that's redefining how workshops operate, with a keen eye on growth and innovation.

At the helm of this movement is Dr Raymond Low, the dynamic chief executive officer of Alienworld. Under his leadership, the renowned automotive performance and engine tuning company Alientech has evolved to become Alienworkshop, with a laser focus on performance solutions for automotive service providers.

“We started in 2016 by spotting a gap - traditional workshops were struggling to keep up with technological demands,” explained Clare Chong, Alienworld’s chief operating officer.

“We saw an opportunity to bridge that gap with smart, easy-to-use remapping tools and systems that reduce reliance on manual skills.”

This shift has paid off. Alienworld recently earned a nomination for the prestigious SME100 Award, riding on the momentum of a previous Golden Bull Award win.

These accolades aren’t just trophies, they’re a testament to the company's innovative business model and strong industry presence.

But what truly sets Alienworld apart is its approach to technology. “Our customers are workshops, not car owners,” Chong noted.

“And what they value most is time. Our tech helps them diagnose issues faster and more accurately, which ultimately improves service quality.”

Staying ahead of the curve
Behind this innovation is a leadership style grounded in empowerment and trust. Chong emphasised a “lead-by-example” culture, giving teams the freedom to make decisions while nurturing talent from within. “We want our people to grow with the company. That’s how you build a sustainable, resilient business.”

Speaking of growth, Alienworld isn’t just thinking one or two steps ahead - they’re thinking 10 or 20. The company is preparing for a future IPO, carefully evaluating its revenue streams and partnerships. It's part of a larger vision to stay ahead of the curve and keep adapting in a fast-moving industry.

Innovation, however, doesn’t mean chaos. Chong was quick to point out the need to balance bold ideas with market-tested reliability. “It’s not about chasing trends for the sake of it. We listen to our customers and introduce new tech when it genuinely improves operations.”
‘Don’t be afraid to make mistakes’
Digital adoption plays a major role here, streamlining workflows and ensuring consistent service quality across markets. With a presence in Malaysia, China, Southeast Asia, and Asia, the company also supports clients remotely, a necessity in today’s globalised world.

Alienworld’s growth strategy is both organic and strategic. While subsidiaries have flourished naturally, the team is also planning to acquire licences to expand its network of workshops under the Alienworkshop brand.

Despite the company’s fast ascent, Chong remains grounded. Her advice for fellow SMEs? “Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. They’re your best teachers. And focus on building your reputation, it’s the one thing that will open doors you never thought possible.”

With no direct competitors in Asia and a business model that blends high-tech with human insight, Alienworld is in a lane of its own. And judging by the road ahead, they’re not slowing down anytime soon.
